Colored Hair

When I went to the salon to have my hair dye the stylist gave me the color choices and some of them were not your "normal hair colors." Pink Hair?? Purple Hair? Turquoise Hair?? I was a little taken back. These colors are not what you would expect to see for hair dye, but they becoming more popular than ever. I have always been a live and let live sort of person.  I don't care if you hair is black or green if you like it good for you.  Anyway, let's face it these girls are beautiful pink and blue hair or not.

I know a lot of people don't feel that way but those people will judge no matter what. So who cares what they think? When I was at the salon I secretly contemplated getting a purple stripe or two put in my hair.  But then I kept thinking what would people think about a person my age having purple hair? What would my job say? So I guess I really do care what people think and say about me.

But I can be honest with ya'll, can't I. I LOVE the new "mermaid hair" I am so in love with it. I just told my hubby I loved it and he sort of laughed at me. I wonder what everyone else would say if I did this to my hair?

If I was say, a few years younger, it wouldn't be a question I would go get my hair done tomorrow. But at my age, I don't know if it will suite me. I don't know if I  could pull it off. But I can say I think it's beautiful.  What age do you have to stop expressing yourself?  Someone suggested starting with colored clip ons to try out colored hair, I may just do that instead of something more permanent.

What are your thoughts on "wild" color hair? Would you do something like Mermaid hair or pink hair? Leave me a comment and let me know. Have you dyed your hair a different color? Feel free to leave me a pic on my FaceBook page, I would love to see it.

  1. I love it! For any age :] I have been dying the underneath of my hair bright colors and the rest dark for a little while. It's not so in-your-face as all over color, but still lets me feel a little different. When I did green I actually had someone ask if it was an accident! Oh well, I still think it's awesome. Right now I have in a purple that I'm letting fade out and thinking about orange for autumn.

    1. The song Grandmaw got run over by a Reindeer makes reference to the blue and silver candles match grandmaw's wig. So someone older may have started the trend :)

  3. I was JUST talking about this with my husband! I seriously love that mermaid color scheme too! This is actually the first time in my life that I COULD do what ever I want with my hair since I'm at home, but is it weird to have radical hair at 35? That's still pretty young, right? :) My kids would LOVE it and that is who I entertain all day, but what about fading and maintenance? Maaaybe someday, but if not now, when? I'll probably start with streaks or the underside like Ashley said :)

  4. I love the hair too! It's not something I would wear now but I did have my hair dyed greens and blues when I was younger.

  5. I used to do crazy color and I still would if the mood struck me. I'm in my 40's. There's a very famous marketer who has a pink streak in her hair and she's in her 50's.

  6. I could see myself doing this to my hair for a special day. Maybe a couple of purple streaks in my hair would be cool.

  7. People should have the free reign on hair color. But if you're still not sure, why not have streaks, or just have it at the tips, to 'test the waters', if you will? If the people like how you look with that, perhaps they wouldn't be shocked once you go all the way. There's no harm in trying, right? Either way, have fun with whichever choice you go with!
